A couple of cool rookie cards.
It's a shame I didn't ask SGC to only give an "AUTH" to the Brett, but I just assumed they would...instead of number grading it (the stupid 1 is based solely on the obvious miscut, as there is nothing else wrong with it whatsoever). Yikes!! Having learned my lesson, I attached a note to the Bench to ensure it rightfully only got the "AUTH"... 1968bench1975brettRCmiscutSGCsm.jpg

I collected miscuts (mostly T206 backs) for a time, but haven't bought any recently. My prize possessions in that category are these backs, which are all upside down and have parts of four Piedmont backs. I believe eight are known to exist, though that was a number from 10+ years ago, so more may have been found...

I've owned many T206 miscuts over the years, really fun (rare & desirable) category. I know some great collectors who will likely post more in this thread...In the meantime, here's a few I currently own...

A more modern miscut than my usual pre-war variety. Saw this for about $5 and couldn't pass on it. Has parts of three cards. The Angels player is Ken Berry

If I were to establish a prewar miscut set hall of fame, the inaugural inductees would be the E220 National Caramel, T201 Doublefolder, 1941 Goudey, and T206 sets. Here are examples from each set. My T206 is a fairly minor miscut...donations to the Miscut Hall of Fame are always welcome.

I would like to see another one besides my O'Doul that is more than just a little off-center. goudeyodoul108 (545x640).jpg Brian |

Some more T201 miscuts. The other side of the Joe Lake is printed properly, oddly enough. Mecca's other issued sets are cut pretty well and difficult to find miscut, but this was certainly a more complicated production. The Lake/Wallace oddity is one of my favorite pre-war cards.

Couple of miscut fronts that show both horizontal and vertical orientation on the same sheet
and a couple of back miscuts: one showing the same horizontal/vertical layout, and parts of 5 backs... and one not in the same sheet location, though multiples of Reulbach with a miscut like this are known. |

I think I'd take the E94-like McGraw! I love the cards where it's something of a mystery of what they even are, a piece of a puzzle to which we have no picture of it completed. Thankfully in boxing land, those kind of unique cards only cost me $50 or so. Much easier on my wallet

The best miscuts are those that provide new evidentiary material to learn from. This T218-1 miscut was a surprising find that showed at least some sheets had cards printed upside down relative to other rows. A strange choice. This sheet was probably printed at Brett Lithography. As far as I am aware, it is still the only upside down cut of any T218. I had expected there were 2 sheets of 25 unique subjects in a block printing format, with a separate adjunct sheet with only Jack Johnson's on it.

I bought a lot of 47 miscut cards from 1975-86 about 7-8 years ago and havent looked through them in a long time. I thought they were all back miscuts, but I just saw the stack and found these while looking through them

Great miscuts in this thread!
I actively collect T205 miscuts that show parts of different cards (along with other T205 freaks like multistrikes, interesting ink transfers, and blank backs). A text list of descriptions comes first, and then the scans below. Byrne, with a ML to left (on front) (Adkins, Dunn, or Batch) Jimmy Collins, with either Phelan or another Collins to left (on front) Mattern, with a Newark ML to left (on front) Phelan, with Tinker below (on back) Austin, with Bris Lord below (on back) Ball, with Duffy to right (on front) Cobb, with Barger to right (on back) Devlin, with Devlin below Joss, with another red card, possibly another Joss, to right (on front) Killian, with McIntyre to right (on back) Killian, with a green card with the bottom "name tag" (Thomas or Blackburne) to right (on front) Knight, with another Knight above A. Latham, with Lobert to left (on front) Leach, with Paskert to right (on front) A.P. Leifield, with blue card (possibly Ames) below (on front) Mathewson, with another Matty-colored card above (on front) McBride, with McElveen to right (on front) McGraw, with Crandall below (on back) Paskert, with another Paskert below Reulbach, with Meyers to right (on back) Scott, with Hoffman to right (on back) Simmons, with Cicotte or Stovall to right (on front) Stanage, with another Stanage above Steinfeldt, with Flynn to right (on back) Stone, with red card above Street, with Bresnahan above Wallace No Cap, with another blue card to left (on front) Walsh, with a blue card above Wheat, with another Wheat above Wiltse, with Titus to left (on front)
