Default 76 Topps starter lot

I was going to complete the set but I have decided to sell it if still interested. It is a near mint with all of the stars and main RC's included. Missing numbers are:
#7,8,9,12,13,14,21,25,28,31,32,33,38,40,41,48,51,5 6,130,141,142,153,
164,168,169,206,215,220,244,246,278,297,299,326,33 7,380,432,447,
448,451,475,497,578,590,597,598,601,607,615,617,65 4

Total cards in the starter lot is 610. The complete set in near mint books for $1000. No markings, no creases, nice color and decent centering on most. Slight touch of wear on some but not very many. Pics of the stars can be provided. $500 delivered obo, thx

Having collected that set probably 5 times over I can attest to the fact that even if you broke open a pristine Gem Mint vending box at least half the cards would be too OC to qualify as NMMT. I think that’s why you’re having such a tough time finding what you want. Even the very best set I ever had - which was close to MT probably had 1/3 somewhat OC.

My recommendation - for what it’s worth - is either take a smaller stack of truly NMMT cards - or buy a lot knowing that half will need to be replaced. Just sharing my experience. Very best of luck in your hunting.

I agree with Scott. I’ve been painstakingly putting together a NMMt set for quite a while now. It’s cost me because im being very picky but it’s just become a fun project. I’ve also started to use my dups for TTM. I have some nice NM cards but not enough to qualify as a starter set. Let me know if you’re interested.

Thank you Scott and Jabe. I'm beginning to realize that outside of the 71 set, this might be the most condition sensitive set of the 70s. I was able to build a nmmt-mint 74, 75, 77 sets from vending lots and then going back to upgrade O/C or dinged cards. The biggest problem with the 76, seems to be that most collectors don't really know what nmmt means so I'm getting a lot of messages, but the cards all have corner and edge wear.

Yeah totally understand that. I have a spreadsheet that I use to track each card.

Jabe and Brian. I am sure that I’ve got quite a few 76s in NMMT or better 1 and yes I know that means essentially only tiny flaws. If you have a wantlist or a spreadsheet and happy to see if I can fill it. I won’t have enough for a starter set - but perhaps enough for one or two hundred cards.

I have a complete set w/the traded set. Put away new by the owner, centering is mixed and a few cards have bumped corners from box storage(mostly Traded cards). So technically Ex to Nrmt, primarily Nrmt+/-. $449 delivered. Check, MO or Zelle.

I can send scans of which ever cards you would like.

If you have any extra high grade 1975's (regular, not minis) PM me please.

Does anyone here know what NMMT looks like? It's not worn corners, dinged edges and miscuts. I thought trying to buy from collectors would be easier than some random on ebay but clearly this is why grading companies became such a necessity... no one knows how to grade their own cards.

This is a set I’ve been working on too in NM/MT condition. I think you may need to pick up commons from EBay. New England Sports Cards usually has lot of 500 plus every now and then. They are pretty sharp cards. They look centered with razor sharp corners. They run between 150-200 for the lot. You can fill in the stars. I was able to pick up a big chunk from a collector here. I’m not a big centering guy though, I need sharp corners and just not miscut. I had this set before a friend put together for me from vending. I sold it because I needed money. It was nice and I’m still trying to finish it in that same condition. I’m still about 100 cards short. Good luck in your quest!

That's awesome. Glad you were able to rebuild it. I did the same with a 1958. I put it together for about $500 in 2012, sold it a year later for $1,500 to help fund my wife and I's first trip to Disney World. Then I rebuilt it in 2018.

As far as '76s, I"m down to needing 2. I might just sell off my starter set (missing Brett and Reggie, haha, all other stars there). But I'm undecided at this point. But believe me, it's really on my mind right now.

To OP, good luck finding what you're looking for. It's out there. Just have to be patient.

I finally picked up what I've been looking for. I should have the set in hand with 60 cards to finish it. I pick up the stars last, but will need about 50 more commons/semi-stars if anyone can help with a want list with actual NMMT/vending quality cards, please PM me.
