I've had a 1953 Topps Mickey Mantle for a long time. It's not an upper grade card but nice. Should I leave it raw or get it graded. Not wanting to sell at this time.
Thanks. |

If you aren’t selling, keep it raw and save the cash.

Outside of authenticity and potential market value - no reason to rush to grade. Whatever your preference is.

You gotta do what you want to do. When grading was much cheaper, I sent in a number of cards to get graded, but only if they fell into one of the following categories:
1. Desirable cards that were in excellent shape that I really want to protect (i.e., any Mantle that I thought would get a 7-8 if graded); 2. Rare variations that I wanted labeled so that, if a relative had to move them, there would be no mistake as to what they were (i.e. my Venezuelan Topps cards that could otherwise be mistaken for low grade, regular Topps cards); 3. Any cards I had where PSA had not yet graded one from the set or player, particularly where I had more than one of the card and planned to sell the duplicate ones I got it recognized/added to the set. If it didn’t fit this criteria, I saved my money.
