So the winner of this auction:
https://www.ebay.com/itm/36394141859...rdt=true&rt=nc for $5109 Now is immediately selling them, starting at $6500 (no bids yet) https://www.ebay.com/itm/11550498790...Bk9SR4DCmqncYA What's their value once soaked off the page? Did he make a wise investment at 5100.......although plus tax it's a bit more. Last edited by Shoeless Moe; 08-27-2022 at 09:59 PM. |

I would NOT try to soak an Old Judge off a scrapbook page. You might soak the photograph off the cardboard backing instead, and then you just have a skinned Old Judge. Plus, even if you do successfully soak a card off a page, you need to press it under books or other weights while it dries, and I would be wary of doing that to an Old Judge, given the tendency of the cardboard to curl, and potentially to crack or crease if a weight is put on it.

It looks like they have already been attempted to be removed. Then pasted back in. The lone jack card is cool.

If lone jack card would grade a PSA-1 would the card be valued in the $3,000 range?

I was a bidder (during the auction) in the $2k-$3k range. In addition to the Lone Jack, there’s also an OJ of HOF umpire Hank O’Day on that scrapbook page. I assumed it was a “fake purchase” and an attempt to relist. But maybe it was a legit transaction. The price seemed too high for so much risk.

I had bid on it, but fell way short of the final price. It seemed unlikely to me that the cards could be successfully soaked off without severely damaging them. My guess is that the buyer also realized that, and is now trying to resell the item. After subtracting for the ebay fees, they are hoping to get their money out of this now that they've overbid.
