I've always been curious about the value of my poor condition Standard Biscuit Ruth pictured below. I'm not interested in selling it -- just curious. There was a recent ebay auction of a Collins McCarthy Ruth in what I think may be comparable condition.
https://www.ebay.com/itm/1917-E135-C...rdt=true&rt=nc Do you folks think this sale price is a good estimate of the value of my Ruth? |

Cool card. Only one way to find out the value on something like that, which doesn't sound like an option for now. I'd venture to guess you're in the ballpark though. The Collins McCarthy has a much more solid image on the front with less creasing and surface issues. The corner missing on the ebay one hurts it, but it doesn't effect the image much. It's hard to say how much all of the writing and stamping hurts it, but it's not good being on the front. The thing yours has going for it, I believe the Standard Biscuits are much harder to find. Either way, a 1917 Ruth is a 1917 Ruth.

As Trey said, the one that sold on ebay has better eye appeal than yours. However, yours likely would still be around 10K or so (or more) because these cards are just in so much demand.

Paul-The image on the one you provided the link for was good. The damage was peripheral. Yours has a lot of stuff over and around Ruth. I would say the value of yours is somewhere under $10k.

Thank you everyone. I was thinking the torn off corner might make them equal in value. But you're probably right that the eye appeal of the one with the torn off corner is still superior. Regardless, it remains one of the favorite cards in my collection.
