Default FS: T206 commons / EPDG backs - ungraded

EDIT:

Cards no longer for sale.

It was not my intention to create an uproar on this quality forum by making a mistake in my listing.

Please accept my apologies.

Earlier I agreed to purchase a card from this seller, on this thread, for exactly what cost he asked, I immediately made payment via ppff and sent him my address.

He has now removed the card and states he can’t sell for that price, HaHa, what a JOKE!!!!

Everyone please be careful dealing with Brian May aka troutbum97

He got the bum part right

You left off the part where I admitted my blunder & gave you an extra $20, above and beyond, without asking.

If you want to shake me down after my blunder, then that's your choice.

We’ve all made mistakes. Responding and owning it is a pretty good start. Hopefully a lesson was learned.

The only thing I lost was respect for this self-proclaimed BUM

Mistakes do happen, I know, as I have made many in my t206 collecting experience, however, I have never, and will never reneg on my word

And on the subject of learning, I don’t think so Scott! When a little kid steals from the candy shop, he must be caught, hand slapped, and taught a lesson, or he will do it again. Sorry mommy, I didn’t know, should not be an acceptable response here!

I feel the same values/morals apply here

Furthermore, I have discussed this issue with our forum leader and respect his decision to issue the BUM a warning. He assured me he would watch for similar and future MISUSE of this Awesome site, THANK YOU LEON!!

To All Here, please just be leary of the BUM!

I gave you $20, for nothing, to pay for my mistake.

Maybe instead, you just needed a hug or some attention.

By mistake, you mean ignorance, correct?

Your $20 is immaterial to me, I’m a collector of vintage cards

After reading this thread there is one person I would deal with and one I wouldn’t based on how they handled this situation...

Sorry some don’t understand, I’m just tired of getting scammed and hoping to help some other members here not go through the same thing

All I did was pay someone full price for their listing here on the BST and have them tell me — Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t know what I was doing, HeHe

This is a basic scam when someone doesn’t know the industry

And Yes, MY POSTS WERE PISSED OFF AND I’M SORRY IF I CROSSED THE LINE, BUT PLEASE REALIZE WHAT HAPPENED HERE!

Doesn't a scammer usually have something to gain? Sounds like this dude is out twenty bucks and has to deal with this mess. From all I can tell, he's handled it admirably, admitted his mistake, paid some money to you for inconvenience. What exactly is the scam?

Thanks for the reply

To go further into detail, the OP listed a $400+ card for BIN $180, I said I will take it! Then over two hours AFTER payment was made, he cancels the deal

What does he have to gain? Well, as an Ignorant seller who’s not sure of what a card is worth, he has quite a bit to gain by posturing a deal, then cancelling it when he realizes its not in his favor. You feel this is admirable? Sorry, I disagree

For Example: If I offer an asset for sale for $1 million and it sells in 15 minutes, as this card did.....well, oh shit, maybe I made a mistake?

Ethically, Can/should I just be able to cancel the deal and sell elsewhere/later-date???

Sorry, I don’t see it that way

Therefore, Feels like (IS) a SCAMMER to me

I'm going to back off my comments supporting seller a bit knowing this additional info. I thought there was a typo or something in his listing - that's the mistake I thought we were talking about - not that he listed something, researched it more a couple hours after it was sold and paid for and THEN decided to back out of the deal and cancel the transaction. While I can appreciate that he kicked down a 20-spot, IMO the right thing to do would be to follow-through with the transaction, even if it meant taking a 200$ equity loss on it. Gotta do the research before you post. That said, and perhaps it's mearly a linguistics issue, I dont necessarily think that "scammer" is the right word. But it's 100% bad form to back out of a deal you made because you decide to research it later. I think buyer's case could've been better articulated in this thread rather than the fury and aggressive words, but as far as the deal is concerned, buyer is right to be pissed off.

how well would this board function if every time someone had seller's regret from not researching the value of a card they posted they could reneg on a deal without much recourse? there is an unwritten rule to own your mistakes, be an adult, and follow through with a commitment you made with few exceptions (e.g., a typo). the OP can still do the right thing here.

This discussion reminded me of a thread from a few years ago. Surprising to realize how many years have gone by. It seems like just yesterday.
