T205 HOFers......let's post all 30 cards of them....I will provide the Check-list in my next post. Right now we are experiencing a powerful thunder storm here, and I have
to shut down our computers. Miller Huggins is my first entry to this game. I love this run. My favorite T205 is Miller Huggins. I have included him in my Yankees collection. I started following BB at the age of 9 in the Fall of 1947. There are several reasons why I became a Yankees fan....the most powerful reason being the exciting 1947 World Series. In 1949, Casey Stengel became the Yankees Manager, much to the chagrin of the NY Sports media. They referred to Stengel as a "clown", or whatever. Every year (1949-1953) Stengel had the "last laugh" after 5 consecutive World Series victories. I digressed to Stengel for a moment as a similar example of the initial NY media response to Huggins when he became Manager of the Yankees (1918). Huggins suffered the brunt of considerable criticism from the NY media. But, Huggins certainly had the "last laugh" in the Yankees successful 6 seasons (1921-1923, and 1926-1928). Both Huggins and Stengel had a keen eye for talent. It was Miller Huggins who persuaded Col. Jacob Ruppert (Yankees owner) to acquire Babe Ruth from Boston in 1919. My Huggins run is 82 % complete. The two HASSAN cards are not that difficult to find; therefore, when I acquire them, I can say for now I have a completed Run of the 11 confirmed backs. Huggins has not yet been confirmed with a DRUM back. His American Beauty back is printed in Black ink. Therefore, I expect his DRUM card eventually will be discovered. This Wheat was in the first group of 5 vintage cards I purchased in early 1980's at a card show for very small money. It was a couple decades or so before I realized that it having a Broadleaf back made the card a little extra special.

We recently had a lot of fun doing this with the T206's, so now let's give it a try with T205's.
The RULES are simply: 1....Show a T205 HOFer card from your collection each day. Only one HOF subject per each of your posts. Multiple cards of this same subject with the various backs is certainly acceptable. Also, including a story with your post is appreciated. 2....Please review the Check-list below prior to posting to see if your HOFer has NOT already been posted. 3...Please limit your post to one HOF subject per day, so that everyone can participate. Grade of cards is immaterial....Vg (or less) is as good as near Mint. about 15 yrs ago I traded Bryan Dec a Sawyer Biscuit set plus or minus a few bucks for this card. It was at a Philly or Chantilly Show... I had it until I sold it in my first collection sale. When I saw LOTG have it again not too long ago, it had my name on it.

Matty
(edit): I guess Cycle counts as a different card in the list, but this is the only image I've got right now, so this post can not-count for Cycle if someone else wants to post one! Story: I first learned about Mathewson from a kids' book on great baseball moments at my local public library back when I was 7 or 8. The book must have been published before the '60s, and it was a small hardback, but I don't remember the title of the book or really anything about it except that it had stories of the Merkle game and the 1920 World Series, among other chapters. ![]()

Clark Griffith pitched in 20 MLB seasons, winning 237 games. He also helped Ban Johnson make the inaugural American League talented enough to compete with the National League. Beginning in 1912 he ran and eventually owned the Washington AL team until he died in 1955.

Mr. Bender, plus a hole punch. But not a round one, the hole has a weird notch in it. I'd like to know the story here, but it's probably nothing more than "kid with oddly shaped hole punch decides to try it out on a baseball card".

Michael Nice run of Matty's…..and, no problem regarding your CYCLE card with the "1 (instead of 11) Loss in the 1908 stats. It's more of a mis-print than a variation, as I think all the CYCLE cards of Matty have the "1" there. So, you have accounted for the two Matty's in the Check-list. TED Z T206 Reference . |

Here's a lower grade Bresnahan. It does have a Piedmont 42 back, which is nice.

I have all the T205 Hall of Fame cards except the Mathewson Cycle variation. Does any body know how many could have an Honest Long Cut back? I have 18 of the cards listed with HLC backs and know 2 were not possible; Jimmy Collins and the previously mentioned Mathewson 1 loss variation. So that would leave me wondering about 10 cards and the possibility of an HLC back. They are Bresnahan-mouth open, Clarke, Duffy, Evers, Jennings, Joss, Tinker, Wallace-2 lines, Walsh and Young.
Here is my only Polar Bear T205 Hall of Famer that should be added to the list to make 30 total cards of 25 different players. Thanks for any HLC info you can provide on those 10 cards. John ![]() ![]() Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk |

What tobacco brand if the 11 possible has the most possible backs of these 30 T205 cards? With the info posted Honest Long Cut could have 24 or 25 of these cards. Could any other brand claim more than that of these 30 cards?
