Hello all. I was recently asked by one of our own to write an article on any piece of memorabilia I had in my collection and why I had it.
It was very fun especially the research. Please take to look and enjoy. Thank you John Dreker for the help and asking. Also thank you to Scott Forrest and Mike Dugan for assisting with information. The article is free to read and the online magazine is worth a subscription if so inclined. The top article is the one I’m referencing for the next 15 hours or so. https://www.piratesprospects.com Regards Jon Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Thanks to Jon for contributing. I've had other board members contribute articles and would like to get more from anyone willing to share Pittsburgh Pirates memorabilia or baseball cards. Every contributed article is free on the site, so no need to sign up to read/share them.
Here's a direct link to Jon's article: https://www.piratesprospects.com/202...ing-photo.html Here's one from Martin Healy: https://www.piratesprospects.com/202...bson-mitt.html Martin also contributed an article about George Gibson: https://www.piratesprospects.com/202...s-obscure.html Joe Gonsowski shared his 1887 Pittsburgh/Detroit scorecard: https://www.piratesprospects.com/202...scorecard.html Jarrod Ranone, who I believe is a member here (if not, he should be): https://www.piratesprospects.com/202...-baseball.html Kevin Cummings: https://www.piratesprospects.com/202...m-barkley.html Graig Kreindler: https://www.piratesprospects.com/201...kreindler.html Tim Carroll: https://www.piratesprospects.com/201...m-carroll.html If anyone else has interest in showing off Pittsburgh Pirates Memorabilia or talking about a favorite Pirates card they own, feel free to send me a message. Thanks again to all of the board members who have contributed so far.

Thanks to John and Jon for linking to those articles. I haven't been looking at Pirates Prospects for awhile--just too despressed. But these articles got my spirits up, and I read lots of other stuff on that excellent site. Highly recommended to anyone with Pirate interests.

Thanks, Mark. There are a ton of free articles that people here would like because they deal with vintage players. I'd recommend the two articles looking at the time Dazzy Vance and Red Faber spent with the Pirates. It was basically a day-by-day look at both of them with rare photos of them with the Pirates. I had fun researching both of them
Vance: https://www.piratesprospects.com/202...zzy-vance.html Faber: https://piratesprospects.com/2020/05...red-faber.html I put up our 25th Card of the Day article today (linked in the article, all free, but not all are vintage), Bill Mazeroski's rookie: https://www.piratesprospects.com/202...mazeroski.html

I'm not a "writer", but I did major in English at Tulane in the 80's. Do your readers want to hear about my unfinished Abner Dalrymple pose run? 250 words or less, double-spaced. Items I read from wikipedia type sources like..."1st batter given an intentional walk, with the bases loaded?"

Dalrymple was the first batter for the Alleghenys in the National League, so he has some history behind him. That's an automatic hook, so it's about as much of a history intro that he needs before you get into the collection part of the article.

It was an honor for John to ask me and fun to participate. I haven’t written anything recently other than helping my wife with her Health and Phys Ed PowerPoint presentations for remote learning!
