This card is on consignment with me from the gentleman with the large T206 collection that I just finished off selling to another board member.
Eye appeal on this card is obviously off the charts. The one problem area is just above Babe's right shoulder where it seems as if a sticker had once been placed and then removed, causing a small area that has a very slight amount of color minimization as well as a very small area where the fingernail indented the card ever so slightly to remove the sticker. These are barely noticeable until you take a closer look. I am sure that this would affect the technical grade, but the eye appeal of this card would have it sell for far more than whatever technical grade it might receive. The card has been in the collection of my consignor since the late 1970's. He was a flea market dealer and collected all of these cards at that time. There are therefore no worries of trimming or any other nefarious actions regarding this card. The only way that it was ever "altered" was when the sticker that had been placed on it was removed. I have included front and back scans as well as a closer up scan of the "problem area"...which is so light it is somewhat hard to see even in the closeup. ![]() ![]() ![]() Last edited by btcarfagno; 05-17-2020 at 12:36 PM. |

Why not get it graded to at least have some suggestion on trimming or alteration?

Not my call to make. Stubborn consignor does not want his cards to go to auction or be graded. Trust me I have explained all of this to him already. He is in his 80's and stubborn. Would rather hold onto them than send them to auction or get graded.
So I do my best under the constraints I am given. I have sold over 250 T206 cards for him this way as well as another Goudey Ruth. This one is going to be tricky though. |

This card was returned to me by a previous buyer as PSA was not willing to give it a numerical grade. Not due to trimming but rather because it has been in a screw down holder for two decades.
So anyone who can look past the morons at the grading companies and are willing to buy the card for the card itself and not the slab, this one is for you. Eye appeal is of a 6 or 7. Look at those corners! Available far cheaper than its look would suggest. Would be willing to take $4,000 or best offer for it. Thanks for looking! |
