1948 Leaf Honus Wagner question
What is he EATING?
It appears Wagner is eating Oreos or some other small cookie as his "action shot". What is it and what were they thinking? I can see Leaf wanting a shot of Wagner chewing gum but cookies? Whats the deal?

Hmmmm, an Oreo cookie action shot! Probably more healthy than taking a dip of tobacco to put between his cheek and gum ( as Walt Garrison used to say ).

If this is really an honest question, it's pretty much 100% accepted that is him stuffing his face with chewing tobacco.
The anti tobacco stance is an urban myth.

I imagine it would have looked pretty funky with the printing process they used to leave it stringy. He would have had quite the gross blob in his hand. Not that chewing tobacco is that appetizing to begin with, blech.
