OT: Please Keep My Family in Your Prayers
Hey all,
I haven't been too active with the board lately due to the start of college at the University of Vermont. I found out the unfortunate news about my mom's cancer, and how it came back after more than a year in remission. This could not have came at a worse time in our lives, but I am faithful that things will eventually get better and that someone is looking out for my family and I. Any prayers would be greatly appreciated. I will not be very active for a while. Thank you all. UPDATE: she passed away today. I don't know why they do this to such beautiful families. I wish your mom a full recovery and may she have the mental toughness to endure and fight. Like Jimmy V said, Don't ever give up! That's where you and your family come in, and I wish for all of you to be able to be the rock and support to each other that will be needed.
Cancer is such a bastard. Most of us here, in some form or another, have had to cope with the disease. Perhaps a direct experience ourselves, or known someone, it's never easy. And out of pocket expenses can be very costly, even after insurance. Everyone, please reach out to your local cancer center, lymphoma, or leukemia center. Small donations eventually become one big donation. Joshua, what do you need from us? How can we help?

Hang in there man. I lost my mom to cancer when I was about your age. My best advice would be to spend as much time as you possibly can with her and savor it. I wish your mom the best and you're both in my thoughts.

Stay positive, Josh. I, too, lost a parent (my father) to cancer. He had Stage 4 Mantle Cell Lymphoma and finally lost his battle after 10-months of fighting on August 30, 2015.
While the grieving process is fresh, my best advice is to spend the most time you can together or call when possible. My father was 58 and there isn't a day that goes by the I don't wish I had 1-more fishing trip together. Remember that we must all make life's journey, but enjoy every lasting memory forever! Health issues stink. Both my wife and myself have been through a lot and can speak from personal experience. The thing to keep in mind is that everybody gets something sometime in their life and what makes the difference is how you deal with that something. If you let things beat you up, you lose the game. If you look for the positives, you win the game. Keep your chin up and be positive. My thoughts are definitely with you and your family and you will get through this. Take care and love your mom. she needs it in this tough time.

Your mom is in my prayers. My mom beat breast cancer twice. It can be done. Stay positive for her. Just try to be there for your mom as much as you can, it really helps.

So sorry to read this. I actually met your mom and spoke to her for a few minutes at the East Coast National (two years ago?). Seeing the photo reminded me. A very sweet lady from what I could gather in that brief conversation... her being there supporting your hobby. Wishing the best for you in these tough times...
