Default future big names

So I've been doing some research lately trying to find some stars on the rise in the minors so I can get ahead on getting some good rookie cards before they get to expensive. I found that it really adds excitement to the game. Does anyone know of any names that could fit this description that isnt on the main stream yet? Ive mostly been browsing the teams that I know have strong farm systems and basically reading up on them. I've found a couple names and made some purchases but I'm always looking to make more! Thanks in advance.

I would suggest Carlos Martinez, but that genie is out of the bottle. Have you looked into Jack Flaherty on the Cardinals minor rosters? He looks the part.

Not in the minors but I think Chris Archer is on the cusp of greatness.

+1

He is very respectful of the history of the game, and very bright about baseball. Archer will more seasons like he is having this year.

Judge. If you're going strictly for reselling purposes when they make it, buy any and all Sox and Yanks prospects. They will always seem because of that market

There are plenty of guys playing now that are just tapping into their potential.

Over the last few years as a general rule you'll find that if you look at the rosters of the Futures teams you won't do badly.

He speaks truth. Scary game tho. Would rather invest in, for example, J-Up. Base chrome sell for $30 and used to be at and above $100 and embarrassed Kershaw for years in prices. Kid still has a damn good shot at 500+ HR's and the scary thing is he hasn't tapped into his full potential

The cats out of the bag, i have been prospecting for several years and it appears based on rookie cards and autographs that anyone that is a "top" prospect has almost, i hate to say topped out in card value, but are expensive and potential upside is low in my opinion. Bryant this year for example. The fun part for me is doing my own research and looking for low level guys who have potential and whose cards are cheap or very reasonable. (fangraphs is one of my favorite sites).
good luck and have fun!
Bowman chrome is your best bet

Thats what I'm doing now bama,it really has increased my love for the game to. I guess I just like being able to say I have his rookie card when someone brings a player up. I agree that with the absurd prices on the new stars auto cards, like Mike Trout, are probably not going to get much higher than they are now,and the prices of those are redicolous at the start.

I used to be heavily into prospecting. My advice for researching prospects would be:

Go to Baseball America, look at their organizational top 10 prospect lists, sign up for their daily prospect update emails, look at their weekly hot lists. Baseball Prospectus is another good site to check out. Both Baseball America and Baseball Prospectus have chat sessions with their writers and scouts. You can gain a lot of insight from participating and reading their chat sessions. Finally, there are a lot of team specific blogs related to prospects, never a bad idea to see what they are saying about their own prospects.

As many have said, prospecting can be tough financially, but it is enjoyable. And when you guess right, you win big. Bought a signed game used Mike Trout bat for $300, flipped it for just under 2K, similar profit on a RC Autograph. But the opposite is also true, I had plenty of cash into Alex Gordon and Jason Heyward......

One other thing that is interesting…even if you accurately forecast players who are perennial all-stars, unless they break into the upper echelon of players and have a significant fan base, they won't do you much good. Someone like Stanton is a good bet for that reason…take a time like now and buy. He has seta established he can hit in a big way and is off to a slow start…bargains on his cards. A friend of mind did this with McCutcheon a few years ago and did well. You are probably better off to buy on the dips that to buy low with hopes of a player becoming a star.

Stanton is still pretty expensive for graded but raw is ok for price. He is pretty much near Kershaw prices and maybe the tougher colors will go up some but not much. I believe he's at his peak about.

Carlos Rodon - Chicago White Sox rookie looks like a good candidate.

I like Matt Olson, 1B, OAK. He's got big power, and that always plays.
