So this is where they came from......
A few other members and myself enjoy collecting items surrounding the mfg'ers of our cards ie... the packaging they came in, invoices, letterheads and other things associated. For some reason I don't see a lot of the E94 Close Candy Company "specific" mentioning of their candy. Also, there is a good chance that Blomes, even though there is an overprint just like the others, wasn't a a George Close Candy Co. product. So really, those E94s are more Blomes Candy Cards than Close Candy Cards, possibly
 . Here is a recent addition...(if anyone wants to show anything related to our cards, it would be great)

Dang that thing looks huge at 5lbs. Would it have contained smaller packages that each contained a card or would it be send to the store as a big block and then cut down.
I love this stuff but am never sure how to id it directly to the card years. James G

Over time while collecting these things you get to know the type packaging and the approximate dates they were used. I would speculate that there were smaller packages in that box, which I put at circa 1915...though I doubt it was this type of Blomes bag......(the wrappers below pertain to other E94 overprints, though they aren't exact)

Nothing like an overprint that makes our nation dumber! They should say "you're safe" or "you're out". Ugh! I'm shocked there weren't "correction overprints" after an astute second grader caught the error!

Leon, you are assembling a very nice collection of ephemera that is related to your fabulous type-card collection!
I picked up this Leader Theatre advertising card (it's about the size of a standard business/calling card) recently at a flea market in Arlington, VA, which is just across the Potomac River from Washington, DC, where this movie theater was located. Advertising for the Leader Theatre is found on the backs of W573 and W575-1 style cards, and both versions are truly rare. From doing a bit of research I learned that this theater opened in 1910 and closed in 1960 - the part of town where it was located became rather seedy after WWII, and in 1953 this theater changed its name to Pix Theatre and screened adult movies until it shut down. I assume this advertising card is from 1931 inasmuch as the movie advertised, "Ten Nights in a Bar Room," was released on March 1, 1931. 1935 Chicles Football Stars
I know this is a football related question, but I have never even seen a picture of a 1935 National Chicle Football Stars box, I have a wrapper but never have seen any packaging?? Any info would be greatly appreciated
