So here I am right now at a Thai food festival on the Paramount Studio lot in LA with the family. I wind up in a line with a friend's kid who's in the fifth grade. He doesn't play much baseball, not a huge fan either. Anyway I ask him what older players he knows-- never heard any names I mention, then he says, "I just know Babe Ruth. I don't know where from but I know he was like the greatest. I also know Joe DiMaggio and Mickey Mantle, because some kids did reports on them for school."
Just thought it was a cute story, and goes to show how the legends live on even for people who aren't into the sport. |

Given what we talk about so often on the forum that story is quite telling. Thanks for sharing....

His family must be transplanted New Yorkers
I did the same when we moved out the CA when I was eight.
