Rare post cards rarely receive commentary on the Board, nor is there any up to date literature which both displays the post cards and reflects recent auction prices.
In our collection there are more than 60 different high grade post-card types. What are the five rarest postcard (types) and other than ealry 19th century team post cards with a picture of Ruth? What are the five most valuable pre WWII post cards? Finally, who are the most distinguished baseball posy card collectors? Many of the great baseball post card collections have been sold off over past 10 years. The favorite card in our collection is a Winthrop Moving Picture post card. Only 4 such cards have ever been cataloged. Certainly would be interested acquiring additional samples. Best Bruce Dorskind America's Toughest Want List bdorskind@dorskindgroup.com |

I like postcards, but am not up there with the big dogs when it comes to paying top dollar for them...it has been my observation though that the most expensive postcards are the Negro League team real photo postcards...followed up by the Pacific Coast League postcards.
edited to add: Not sure who the most "Distinguished" baseball postcard collector would be, but I have a lot of old postcard literature as I collect postcards unrelated to baseball as well and have accumulated a lot of it, but I notice old advertisements from the 1950s from Wirt Gammon wanting to buy baseball postcards. There are also lots of ads from Jefferson Burdick advertising his catalogs and other books he wrote. I think he must have had a very nice postcard collection, but I don't know what he did with it.

Bruce, from what i know of them, the Winthrop moving postcards are really fascinating. You claim there are only four known, do you know which one is not unique? I've only seen the animation for the brown. Which one do you have and could you post a video thumbing through it showing the movie?
Adam, do you have a video of the boxing one playing? DJ

No, DJ, I do not. I'm not sure I want to riffle it given the age and delicacy of the binding.

Hi Bruce. If you have not already seen it, the Winthrop postcards are discussed in Issue #61 (May 2009) of the Old Cardboard eNewsletter at http://www.oldcardboard.com/enews/20...61/enews61.htm. They are also profiled (with an animation of the Mordecai Brown card) on the Old Cardboard website at http://www.oldcardboard.com/pc/1906-...cardsetID=1447.

Is there not a Josh Gibson RPPC with a couple known copies floating around or did I just make that up? Seems I recall someone stating such.
