Hi-
I recently stumbled upon the 1961 Leader Cleaner Early Wynn scanned below (found it in a box of ephemera at a flea market). Besides one pictured on Bob Lemke's blog (from a fellow board member Larry S) and another on a website, are there any others known? The Wynn is number 3. Mine appears to be the same length as the one on the blog. Does anyone have any others to share? Any additional information about these? Thanks in advance, Alan Elefson aelefson@hotmail.com |

Thanks Larry! I had no idea it was as valuable as it was when I bought it and I really appreciate your offer. I am very glad I happened upon it.

Great stuff, Larry. I see only 3 players mentioned in this thread. Who is the 4th player you have? I would love to see pics of your Pizarro, Martin and your 4th player.

Larry:
I know nothing about these, but they appear to be a White Sox issue since the Wynn shown has a White Sox schedule. Also you have J.C.Martin and Pizarro both White Sox like Wynn. So how does Nuxhall with the A's get in there? Does his card have an A's schedule? A quick net search shows Leader Cleaners in Chicago, no mention of Kansas City or Missouri. Any idea? Curious Fred

Larry - any chance you could post a pic of your Nuxie card? It does seem very strange that he is in the set, since he never played for Chicago. He was traded in January of '61 from the Reds to the A's, so it wasn't a situation like he was a free agent and invited by the Sox to spring training, but then released prior to the start of the season.

It looks like the Nuxhall band was issued later than the ChiSox players, because the schedule on the right side starts in June (unless the rest is printed on the other side). Larry, is the ad on the left the same for Nuxhall as it is on the White Sox? Makes me wonder how many are in the set, also if there was a second printing of the same players once the season was underway.
