Would you worry when a auction house told you that the item was shipped almost two weeks ago and that you should have gotten it by now?
I bought a group of sports memorabilia from a auction house(not a sports auction, just found it while searching online). The auction was in South Carolina and I live near Boston, so UPS says it should have taken about 3-5 days to get here. I asked the auction house for the tracking number and they said I should have received my items by now because they were mailed out last week(this was said last week) and that they would track them and find out what the problem is. I don't understand why they don't just give me the tracking number? For all I know maybe they sold them to other people and will decide to keep my money and say they got lost in shipping or maybe they did get delivered and someone stole them off my porch. I was told there will be two packages, so I doubt two packages could get lost together in the mail. Should I worry about my packages yet? |

Brock,
Seems kind of strange that they wouldn't give you a tracking number. I would say get that info first, and proceed from there. Hope everything turns out in your favor. Let us know how it goes. Tony |

Yes, I would worry, especially if they are being evasive about giving you the tracking info. If it were me in the AH's position, the first thing I would do would be to look up the tracking so I could tell you, "It was left on your porch on xxx date." or "UPS is showing the package as being in Miami. Check with them to see what is going on." No UPS shipment from SC to Boston should take 2 weeks to get there under normal circumstances (though as I type this, I am reminding myself that there was some serious weather on the east cost recently), but even if there were extenuating circumstances that delayed the package(s), they would need to give you those tracking numbers so that you can follow up with UPS and see where the issue is.
It may also be that they hadn't actually shipped your stuff yet, which would also explain why they couldn't give you the tracking numbers, but brings up another issue of them lying to you outright in saying they had. |

I've had a couple of instances where a package took extra time in shipment but finally arrived. So there is hope.

As I said, there are legitimate reasons that the package could be delayed. That's not the part I would worry about. What I would worry about is any seller who tells you they shipped your stuff via UPS but can't or won't give you a tracking number. It's not like USPS where a package can be shipped with or without tracking. If UPS shipped it, there is a tracking number.

Well I called the auction house, they said it actually went out USPS and they checked in on it last week. Supposedly they were just sitting at the post office and the post office never sent them out.

Sounds like BS to me. They should provide you with a USPS tracking number. If you need help I will try to track it for you.

Rick,
They said there was a postage error at the shipper. And that my packages should be here in 3 days. |

So first it was "those were shipped a week ago by UPS," then it's "actually, they were shipped USPS and have been sitting at the post office for a week," and finally it's "there was a postage error at the shipper, but you should have them in 3 days" (in other words, we shipped them USPS Priority today). And all of this without any tracking info provided?
Someone is doing a terrible job covering their tracks. I'll never understand why people will go so far out of their way to avoid saying, "We forgot to ship your stuff out until you asked about it." I can understand you being hesitant to call them out on it until you actually have your purchases in hand, but that really is LOUSY customer service. |

Update for anyone who cares to know
So Monday night he told he that they are scheduled to be delivered in three days. Well today is Friday(4th day), yet still nothing. Sent a email last night once again asking for the tracking and again don't receive a email(was told on Monday he would let me know Tuesday). So tomorrow they will be getting a nasty call from me! |

I am curious - what is sent through USPS or UPS? What does the tracking show? When did they mail it?

It was sent USPS and had a label on it dated November 19th and tracking but nothing shows up. So I think their story about it sitting in the post office for a week was actually true.
