Scott is correct. 1918 was the first year for war tax but Harry Newton Hempstead was president of the Giants from 1912 to 1919 so that would narrow it down to 1918 or 1919 due to the war tax.

Just to qualify why I included 1919, Hempstead sold the giants in 1919 to Charles Stoneham but I could not find any info as to when in 1919. Also, even if was before the season, I was thinking that tickets could have already been printed up for the season. Either way, at least you have it narrowed down to one of two years and one of two games.
