Look at card #420 of Agee. Photo was taken at Shea when he was a Met. All the fielders are Mets. But the uniforms are airbrushed. See the Right fielder backing up the pop-up? That's Rusty Staub. (BTW-who is sliding into home on the 1956 Aaron card? Willie Mays.). I remember reading in 1973 about the 1973 set that Staub "had a dispute with Topps-so no card of him" was the exact quote from a dealer at the time selling sets. I couldn't afford it at $2.95 per series. So even though Staub had a dispute with Topps, they still have his "likeness" or "image" on a 1973 card.

Sounds like that might be reasonable grounds for a lawsuit against Topps for Mr. Staub, but the statute of limitations has probably run out

Classic Topps- it was easier to airbrush three Mets players to look like Houston players when only Agee was the one they needed in an Astros uni. They must not have had a good capless shot of him. LOL

Man, if they had an award for "set with the quirkiest photos", 1973 Topps would definitely be one of the finalists. After seeing this card, the Bench card, and some of the "In Action" cards, I'm starting to wonder what the photo editors at Topps were smoking during breaks in the early 70's. (not necessarily a knock on the set)

Slightly off topic but some what related, cards of players on other players cards . My favorite is the 1970 Jake Gibbs # 594 . Standing directly behind Gibbs at the batting cage is a figure with jersey # 15 giving the future Yankee great another 1970 Topps rookie card !

73's was really the first ones I collected card by card seriously as a kid. Despite its overall unattractiveness its one of my favorite sets to this day. There were a lot of those airbrushed cards and weird actions shots that year for sure. The A's had won their first world series the prev season, so I was so anxious to get some of the players...I remember seeing Joe Rudi's card and was like wth? It was Gene Tenace.
