I have a strange fascination with Baseball players and death which I know is pretty weird and was just wondering if anyone else has picture like these. Im thinking about starting a collection and I just picked up this Hughie Jennings grave photo and I saved a scan of this Rube Waddell on his death bed (I wish I could remember where this came from). Also, I believe the Yeakleys have this on their ebay store:

I picked this up not long ago. It shows Herb Score after he was struck in the face by the line drive. It's not my favorite photo because it is tough to look at, but it is very evocative, and that's why I bought it.

wow those photos are pretty riveting. score looks pretty messed up. did that end his career?
amazing that in just seven years the babe would be where lou is. he looks quite healthy too. that picture proves how short seven years can be. |

Score came back late the following year although he was never quite the same. Most people assume it was from being hit, but according to Score himself, he came back and tore a tendon in his arm. When he came back from that, he changed his pitching motion which led to poor results.

This is not baseball or even a photo:
There was a basketball player for LSU in the 80's named Don Reddon. He dropped dead on the court while playing a simple pick up. He happened to be wearing a LSU basketball t-shirt. EMT's cut it down the middle of the front to try and recessitate him. Coach Dale Brown ended up with this shirt some how and gave it to a friend of mine. It is now framed in his LSU display room.

What is it with former LSU players and pickup games. If memory serves me correctly, Pete Maravich died during a pickup basketball game. In fact, he was playing at a church gym in Pasdena California where me and a buddy used to play. I guess if it's your time, it's great to go while doing something you love.

I know of at least one collector who does charcol rubbings of HOFers and famous baseball players grave stones. I thought it was interesting but sort of morbid.
