This topic has likely been discussed previously. Possibly a newbie question, but I have very limited experience in collecting graded cards. Also, this is not meant to be a criticism of PSA. Heck, I can't tell the difference between these cards. Both look great. (PSA 8 is on the left in back photo)
So I ask, which is more desirable? Last edited by John V; 03-05-2011 at 05:09 PM. |

I can't see any discernable difference between the 2 of them.....

is the back miscut on the mc?

Looks to me like the one graded 8 has borders yellowed a bit while the one graded 9 looks much more white. Same goes for the backs. Other than that I don't see much difference.

Which is more desirable, an 8 or a 9 with a qualifier?

The 8, any qualifier kills the card, just crack it out and resubmit, maybe you'll get a 10, it's all subjective to who is grading that day, one grader says authentic and the next says it's a 9 !

the back is miscut look at the top of the circle around the trophy, then look at the bottom and see the beginning of another circle, hence the mc qualifier.
added: I'd rather have the 9oc as a collector, just an overall cleaner, sharper card. Last edited by Ease; 03-05-2011 at 09:19 PM. |

In this case I agree with Eric, I'll take the 9 (MC) out of these two cards. Front looks better and it's barely a hair off on the cut. The front actually looks to be more centered on the 9 than the 8. Am I just looking to closely or does the right border look a little better on the 9? Check the position of the row of stars with the card's edge.

If you are buying to resell, take the 8. If you're buying to collect take the 9MC. It has much better eye appeal than the 8 and will cost less. Plus you could probably resubmit and get a straight 8 from another grader.
