Those are both great Matt.
Here is a real photo PC and cabinet photo of 16 year old Edd Roush playing for the Oakland City, Indiana Walk Overs. The PC photo is featured in "The Glory of Their Times". Greg |

Not a ball card, but something I've been after for years.
I bought two hardbound books that were in England, and I've been waiting for them to arrive. One is a 1956 edition of Handbook To World Index, by the Cartophilic Society of Great Britain, book #282 of 500. It is Cartophilic Reference Book #22, and it updates the World Index... think of expanding our Standard Baseball Catalog to cover all cards, sports and non-sports. On page 101 they're correcting the spelling of 5 of the Old Mill red border series 6 cards, and adding a new one to the list. There's a listing for Kalamazoo Bats cards. But the second book has what I've been after. It is the Part II Handbook for British Cigarette Card Issues 1920 - 1940. It is book #144 of the special numbered and autographed edition of 500 copies. It's signed by the authors, Dorothy Bagnall and E. C. Wharton-Tigar. He was an amazing fellow, here's a link to a short bit about him. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Wharton-Tigar Realistically, he has had the most influence on card collecting of anyone. What he put together served Jefferson Burdick as he compiled the American Card Catalog. So I'm quite tickled to have Edward Wharton-Tigar's autograph, finally. ![]() |

Justin,
I was the one who sold you the Cobb! I hope you're enjoying it! Funny thing is, I was just looking at a T3 Collins too. That's a beauty you have there! I'll get back into the Pre-War again once I scratch my 40's-50's rookie itch. lol I recently added rookies of Jackie Robinson, Hank Aaron, and Roberto Clemente. After Koufax and Banks, then it's back to Pre-War! Todd |

Todd,
I'm definitely enjoying the Cobb. I just bought a Koufax RC on Ebay tonight. Looks like our wantlists match up, haha.

Gotta love the idiosyncrasies of the Old Judge issues. This dude appeared in a grand total of 3 games during his career (all in 1887) and parlayed that cup of coffee into 6 different poses in the set. On a somber note, he's dead.

Thanks Rich. About a year ago a Montiel, Dihigo popped up on the BST for what seemed like several weeks. I really wanted that card, but just couldn't afford it then. Finally the seller pulled it off and I was disappointed I just didn't sell some other .
Best wishes, Joe |

Well I finally did it. After much deliberation I stepped up to the plate and purchased a T206 Wagner. I might have overpaid for it but I figured how many times in life are you presented with an opportunity to own an original T206 Wagner? I think you have to go for it, no matter what condition it is in. Too bad the card is of Heinie Wagner not Honus Wagner but none the less it still is a T206 Wagner.

Won this at recent H&S auction and was able to pick it up while at the National. Also saw a larger example of the same photo, really looked gorgeous in the frame, but $3.5k was out of my range

Haha, good one, Mike.
![]() Very happy to see this one arrive today: ![]() Based on the scan provided in the listing, I thought the uniform said Boston, not Indianapolis. To my surprise, the uniform matched the card.

Love the Pittsburgh photo! I picked up my two premiums at the show as well, Chicago (NL) & Detroit. It was very convenient that Huggins & Scott's headquarters is about 45 minutes from the show. |

Managed to pick up the 6th and last E94 Turner color variation I needed along with a nice C46 from Rhett. I forgot to set my sniper on the series 8 T210s (darn it!) when I went to the ball game but still managed to pick up 2.
Late addition- thanks Frank W. for selling me the T210 Taylor. Although I don't have the scan it looks like a beautiful card ad will soon be off to SGC. Last edited by tbob; 08-08-2010 at 10:09 PM. |
