The first pre-war card I ever owned was a T205 Jimmy Dygert, purchased for $2 at a flea market in Hartville, Ohio, in 1976 when I was 13 years old. I've been wanting to pick up a decent example for quite some time.

I would think that Tinker had to be the top card in the column. If it wasn't, it should have a name at the top.

W573 Babe Ruth, the cut side-to-side is factory, about 40-50% of all W573's are short on the right side.

Yep, spending $2 on a T205 in 1976 was seriously overpaying, I suppose. I was blinded by the fact it was over 60 years old! (And it was a beauty!)

(Edited to add that I also probably spent $20 on beer cans at the flea market that day. What a mess.)

I swore off the T206 ten years ago, because I could only afford to buy one per year. I'm now 31, have a couple more dollars in my pocket and, thanks to you all, have become hooked again this year.
I got so excited when these came in the mail at work, I went for a smoke and drove around so I could look at them without people thinking I was crazy. I love the green in on the American Beauty and Sov's.
Thanks to all of you (and Mike at cardtarget) for helping fuel the addiction with the limitless knowledge here on the board!

Lost out on the Grand Studio Brewers lot on Mastro and poof!, the 2 sets I still need fall in my lap. Talk about a long shot as these are the only two sets I've ever come across. I've scanned them on my website...

You guys are missing the "rapier sharp" sense of humor shown by msnyc and ockday.

The cards you both showed are red Cobbs, regular Tolstoi's. Michael was commenting on the very special, Cobb, "Red Tolstoi".

Sentence structure humor is a lost art.
