The numbers on the reverse lead me to believe they were snapshots. They could have been designed to be some sort of premium, and if they were this was likely not the finished product, but a "mock up" of what the premium was to be.

Just having the facsimile sigs on them makes them intriguing. The average "photomat" would not have done that to the negatives. Why it was done is the intriguing part. I'm going to side that these were part of a process to make some kind of premium that never came to fruition.

Not at all! That doesn't make an item 'good' or 'no good'.

It does, however mean.....

..... it is a wonderful situation for a buyer.
..... it is a terrible situation for a seller.



since there is a calendar - the mystery is solved.
Clearly these are goudys. I only wish they had an abundance of stars on the front / that would seal it for me.

I have to say that they don't make me miss the SGC/JSA alliance much. Before I get too many more slabbed by PSA/DNA I sure do wish SGC would hurry up and get somebody good to come on board. I particularly like how the red in the E95 Doyle is highlighted by the red in the PSA label.

Amazing card, Phil!

I have an autographed postcard of George Weiss which dates to the 1950's, but your's blows that away. Always impressed how people can even figure out who the men in suits are in those old photos. Great job, as usual!

Dan's research enabled us to make a nice addition to our HOF collections although it took a postcard that routinely sold for under $100.00 and made it a $500.00 item. At least it fills a previously impossible hole in the collection.

14" x 3.25" tri-fold postcard of the 1909 Pittsburgh Pirates.

(I made the scan on the small side - to hopefully help keep the width of this thread manageable. Unfortunately - its harder to appreciate the look of the players with the small scan.)






And I just had to buy this mystery Matty piece. If anyone wants to help me try to figure out what it might be - that would be great. It measures 3.5" x 5.5", is on slightly thinner than postcard paper stock (like a light postcard - heavier than a text weight paper).... It appears hand-cut or trimmed, and it has the stamp on the back "New England Gum Co. Cambridge, Mass."

Not a lot of stuff worth while at least to my taste in Reading. However always nice seeing Joe, Mike, Mike P, Ted Z and always a pleasure seeing Dan M one day he’ll break down and sell me the Matty item.

Just two upgrades…nothing exciting but it shows I’ve been spending to much time around Ted….I caught the Sovereign bug from him.



P.S. Scans don’t do Joe’s PC justice really sweet item!
