Any information on this Cobb printing plate? It resembles the pose on many of the Exhibit cards. I'm thinking a more modern piece... |

If the image surface is embossed (run your finger across) it's old. If it's smooth, it's a lithograph and more recent. A collector can find printing plates for a variety of products, including magazines, books, advertising, etc, though a new or old example with Ty Cobb's image is rare. It's possible it's a printing plate used to in the making of a publication, like a newspaper, magazine or book. The most common printing plates found are from newspapers. |

I believe that image was used on one of his Exhibit cards. I've got no idea what types of printing plates the Exhibit company nused. |

The image is the same used on the 1921 and 1927 Exhibits, but the plate has his signature floating to the left side (the right side on the plate), so it is not the plate used for those Exhibits. |
