It's a balmy 35 today in Boston you could have easily ridden here; the three feet of snow we have had so far is all cleared off the roads too. |

My wife keeps asking me what I want for Christmas. I say: A T206 Walter Johnson portrait. She says: I'm not getting you just a little piece of cardboard for Christmas. What do you really want? |

Ed, as your attorney I am offering you free advice (which means it's worth...well, you can guess): buy the card and when your wife asks what you want for Christmas you simply reply "thanks, but I already bought myself my present!" Her ensuing guilt from thinking that you do not believe she is capable of buying you the correct present will probably result in you receiving extra presents from her. |

I had both of my parents buy me an Old Judge card each from David Levin's site. Im pretty sure im the easiest person to shop for especially for my dad.Ive gotten cards from him for Christmas almost every year since I was 5 |

Ed, when she tells you she wants a diamond for a gift tell her you're not buying a tiny little rock as a present. |

Paul, how do you think I got this way -- and why do you think I do all that I can to keep my mom away from my kids? |

Jeff -- keeping her away may not help. I believe there's a guilt gene. |

I know this sounds weird, but I don't really like getting baseball cards for Christmas. |

One of my guys (3 year old identical twins) grabbed the box of Quisp out of my hands today, walked over to the cabinet and announced "I need a bowl to put this Quisp in." I thought that was pretty cool. |

The advice is good, Jeff, but I'd be sleeping on the couch for a while. I think if she knew the cost of the little piece of cardboard, she'd say: "try again, we're trying to stay on a budget here." She has made it abundantly clear that she doesn't understand the fascination with cardboard, but I have to respect it. |
