Hello all. I just picked up a Caruthers in terrific condition at an antique show. I've had others in the past but never had them graded. I'm going to sell it on ebay, but am debating having it graded. There are no creases and the tabs are in tact. Would grading significantly enhance it's value considering they were all pasted in books and have irregular borders? |

Get it graded by SGC. They will make a custome insert. Scrapps look great in their holders. |

I would get this card graded if I were selling it. You will more than recoup your fees imo. Even if the back isn't perfect, as many times they were put in albums and have residue or paper loss on them, I would still do it...good luck with it...Very nice condition for the series... |

Thanks fellas. Any recent auction history on this card in Ex? I didn't find anything on ebay. |

Card looks good, but the grading companies are pretty harsh on the Scrapps. I would bet this gets an SGC 30 or less...at that I think the Carruthers would sell for about $200. |

It's interesting that it still has three of its tabs intact. You should get some bonus grading points for it, but you won't. Definitely get it slabbed. |

I just shipped to SCG. I was hoping it would grade higher than 30. It really is nice. I was thinking (hoping) $400-$500. Am I crazy to assume that level of interest? |

Y-95, or Scrapps, is one of those sets that just doesn't fetch the prices relative to their scarcity and age. I think $400 could be there...don't know about much more, and could be a tad less....good luck with it...it's very nice...and if someone really wanted (well, at least 2 people in auction) then it could get to $500...but that would be a stretch normally for this card...even in this condition. Some of it depends on the number they give it....if there is a wrinkle that can barely be seen the price will be somewhat lower as the grade will be lower. Let us know what it grades. It should be interesting. |

Thanks Leon. I'm just happy to have made a nice find like Dan B. usually makes. Nine years ago I found 14 of these in an antique shop glued onto a page. They came off pretty well. I sold those Five years ago or so. |

I'm very happy with the grade and the mounting! Now what do we think the market value is? |

I would think no more than $500.00. |

Way to go Mike....better than I guessed it at. Did anyone happen to see the Scrapps lots that went off on ebay tonight? Holy cow! I guess I should have sold mine in one big lot. Are these on the upswing again or just two guys fighting it out for a near set? |

That price was way more than I was expecting. Probably a lot more than the seller originally anticipated, too. |

I watched it from the beginning and this seller had no clue what they were auctioning off. She/he thought that someone had cut them out until a kindly ebayer (not me) clued them in to what they had. |

The seller did know what she had here. She thought they were cards with the heads cut off. |

The SGC capsules really make these look really good. The custom inserts are great. I'm not sure if PSA would do something like that. I figure if PSA grades these then they would probably stick them in a holder with the mylar non-slip covers. Go SGC on Scraps and vintage cards in general. |
