I am thinking about finally taking the plunge and selling some extra cards on EBay. What is the optimum day/time to schedule an auction to end for maximum exposure? I assume on a weekend but Sat or Sun? Is evening better than afternoon? |

I'm not much of a seller (yet), but I would guess Sunday 8:00 PM. |

I have experimented with this and for some reason, unbelievably have had my best luck with items that end on a Tues or Wed evening 10-11 EST. My worst luck has been with Sundays; figured maybe due to family gatherings, around-the-house work, and getting ready for a new work week. Have some cards ending tonight, my 1st shot ever to see how a Sat works so I'll hold judgement there. Also, forget Fri altogether! |

If I'm selling what I consider a "quality" item -- as opposed to dumping some stuff -- I use a 10-day auction and start it on a Thursday about 10 p.m. Eastern. That way it ends on a Sunday night at the same time. Not too late for East Coasters, 7 p.m. for the West Coast. I also try to avoid selling good stuff during the months of May, June, July and August. Maybe it's not as true today, but it used to be that summer months were killers for sellers. |

As a creature of habit, I close all my lots on Wednesday nights between 8:00-9:00 PM. Don't know if it's the best time, but I am almost always happy with the results. |

My only fear with midweek auctions is that if you list all your stuff on Tuesday or Wednesday, then EBay has one of those 10 cent listing days (which I think they normally do on Wednesday/Thursday), your auctions absolutely get lost in the mass. |

Some good advice has been posted. Also, don't end during broadcast of hot TV shows such as American Idol, dinner time, when people traditionally arrive at or depart from work, church hours, etc. Of course, don't make it too late or early for another time zone. |
