Your focus? Sets, Type Cards, or just plain Investments?

I collect a few sets - 1938 Goudey, T205, W502, R303 and R311.

I do type cards of HOFers (although I just sold a large chunk of my postwar HOFers to replenish the coffers for more cards).

I don't consider myself much of an investor. If I am, I'm not a very good one.

I'm a little of both (sets and type cards). I collect old Topps insert sets and some of the test/supplementnal issues from 1949-80 but on the really tough ones I usually just go for a type card as I don't see spending 20K on a 3D of Roberto Clemente. I need about a dozen of the tougher ones at the moment for my Topps types (whittling it down slowly, but prices are really jacking up recently) and also a couple easy ones I'm just too lazy to pick up. I might take of the easy ones at a show in a few weeks.

I also collect T200-T217 type cards, plus the related silks, blankets etc with attention paid to the backs. Yes, I realize Leon has the only complete T card type run on the planet ..... Also doing Brooklyn teams sets of some issues, particularly T205 and T207 plus their Goudey, Play Ball, Topps and Bowman team sets thru 1957.

Decided to go for the whole T206 set (518 most likely, maybe 520)a few weeks ago and am picking those up now almost to the exclusion of everything else. I might also go for the T205 set as they are really growing on me the more I see them and possibly an early R card type run is in the future. The Monster's gonna kick my butt for a while until I get past the Top 30 or so and I'll probably delay soem projects until then.

Debating whether or not to sell some of the Topps supplemental partial sets I have not completed to fund the T206 collection. Still mulling that one over.....

I am working on cards of players from the 3000 Hit List, 300 Win List, and The Hall of Fame.

My criteria is for pre ww2 I am looking for a key contemporary card(usually T206 or 1933 Goudey), and for post the rookie card.

I am also working on a low grade 1948 bowman set. I have about 35 cards.

It's tough to be focused as I am new to the vintage scene, and as I research I discover more and more cool stuff that piques my interest.

I started out as a type collector, Washington-related items only. I've migrated to filling in sets of Washington players. (Sure glad there are only a dozen or so Wash players in the Monster, and not 52 like the Giants.)

Further drifting leads me to memorabilia. The postcard in Leland's current auction, for example, that's a hoot. Check out the guy in the back row who looks like Larry Fine. I didn't know people wore their hair that long in those days (or is he just draped in seaweed?)

Brooklyn Dodgers/Robins/Superbas, et al. The one variation being 1957 Topps, as it's the first set I bought as a kid and hence the nostalgia factor compels me to collect the complete set. Also LA Dodger cards up until the ridiculous flooding of the market started a few years back.

I collect SGC 50/PSA 4-or-lower hall of famers and the occasional non-HOFer that catches my eye. I'm also fighting the eternal struggle against The Monster...trying to keep it from latching it's claws into me!

I've had one focus for a while now. Type card set of roughly 1-7/16" x 2-5/8 sized color issued cards from 1900-1919 era. Consists mostly of E1 and T cards.

I am set collector. Working on T206's as a lifetime goal and in no big hurry. Putting together all football sets from 1960-69 and a Baseball set from 61. I am working on 1 player set? (is that the right word) but that's just for personal enjoyment and his cards are semi inexpensive. I do have many modern BskBall sets that I also enjoy. So yes, a set collector.
