Did the price of Lew Lipset's Bid McPhee (about $3800) strike anyone as low? As a guy who paid an arm and a leg for one of these things, I'm just kind of curious. Thanks. |

Mine does have a nicer image (the white splotches in the upper left are mostly a scanning artifact). But the image of Lew Lipset's wasn't bad, and the price difference was dramatic. |

it all comes down to who's bidding and how bad they "have to have it now". |

If you look at the standard catalog, I think you'd have to conclude that Bob Lemke would consider $3800 to be a bargain. |

Perhaps Pete Hill's induction has softened the market for rare hall of famer cards since it's now all but impossible to acquire all HOF cards. |

I think Mark's on to something there. And not just Pete Hill. The combination of Hill, Cooper, Mackey, Torriente, and Mendez is a daunting task, even for someone with an unlimited budget. My guess is that other tough cards like McGowan won't be as popular either. Although I can say from personal experience that there has been no drop in the demand for Burketts. |
