Last year at the National (I think it was last year, or the year before) Richard M. and myself sifted through lots of "shiny stuff" packs he bought, opening many packs at our table, looking for the T206 Wagner grand prize. We didn't get one but Glen V's son was the happy recipient of the cards.... Anything about collecting cards is good.....and this occasional O/T by a frequent poster is fine too....best regards |

Took me six boxes to pull a Ripken FF. Sold it last year to a board member for $10. |

I was doing some part time work for John Broggi and he got in some 1960 Topps packs we all opened. I pulled a Mantle card (no I was not able to keep it) |

Forgive my ignorance, but what is the Derek Jeter error? With the cards out for only a few days now, has it already been corrected? |

Rich - I probably wound up with some of those 1960's - JKJ was a weekly stop for me then. I do recall pulling a 72 Clemente out of a pack there. |

Paul, its a lot of hype over a brand new 2007 Topps card of #40 Derek Jeter that shows George Bush, and Mickey Mantle that were photo-shopped into the card. Its so rare that there have been 4500 all ready sold on Ebay, and another 1700 currently available. Its a $3 card that has sold for over $100 due to the hype, but the prices are down to $3-$25 as of late. |

I believe Jeter is in several cards in this set. Standard, Copper, Gold etc... Gold is the most rare only #2007 copies. |

Actually Steve Copper is the rarest one with only 56 available. Gold is numbered to 2007 so its a huge difference. The card has been going for over $400 for the regular base card but now its back down to around $35 and should drop more when all the hype wears off and the market is flooded with them. The cards total production numbers in high 6 figures worth so theres no way people will be paying more than $10 tops when its all said and done. Its also not technically an error card since it was obviously done on purpose and hasnt been changed yet.Theyre still rolling off the printing presses as we speak |

That's funny. I had actually seen a picture of the Jeter card on ebay and thought I saw Mantle in the dugout. I assumed I was seeing things in a bad scan. Somehow, I didn't notice George Bush. |

I pulled a Spahn and Feller in a pack I bought for 20 bucks. This was in 1986, I think. I was excited at the time and still have the wrapper as 20 bucks was a lot of money for me then. Of course, when I first started collecting, anytime I pulled a card with the all star designation, I was pretty excited, especially in 1981. |

In the early 70s, I picked up a box of 1957 Topps football cell packs for about $15. I opened every single pack, pulling rookies of Unitas, Hornung and Starr. Imagine what they would have graded! |

Best as I can recall it was pushing $200 at one time. You may or may not know but there were several versions of this card. One with the F*** F***, one with the blackout and one with an air brush. |

The last year I bought shiny stuff with any regularity was 1998. I pulled a Travis Lee parallel insert rookie card that was limited to 100 copies, before Lee ever played a single game. Almost immediately, I sold it on an internet baseball card swap board (I wasn't an ebayer yet) for $100. |

I was 13 at the time and pulled 2 FF's out of one single pack of cards. They were somewhere around $200-250 each at the time. My dad told me to hold unto both the cards for a while....nice one dad... |
