Check this out, this guys claiming to have a system or something to receive free vintage baseball cards! He even claims that the D359 Bender SGC 50 recently for sale on ebay was one of his "finds" due to his copyrighted idea which somehow has to do with people giving you free valuable pre 1920 baseball cards.

In my opinion, ALL of these systems, methods, etc., whether it be FREE baseball cards, real estate investment or tax bonds are SCAMS and the people hawking them should be in prison.

Not sure what this guy is doing, but I purchased the Bender from him 2 weeks ago. He is a 26 year old kid from NY and he doesn't know anything about vintage cards. He claims he found the card in a book that he bought from an antique dealer. Not sure what he is trying to sell, but I would image that it's nonsense. By the way... The Bender should be in a 5 or even a 6 holder. The corners are super sharp, just a small amout of staining on the back. One of my nicest d359's I own. Thanks for the heads up L.

I think his copywrited idea is he tells you how to slip into one of the Net54er's houses and steal a few cards and then sell them on eaby. Any of you guys missing this particular card??

Maybe that's his copywrited idea: Go to used book stores, riffle (is that a word?) thru every page of every book and maybe, just maybe, you'll find a T206 Wagner used by the original owner as a bookmark. No need to buy the book now.

Yes, I once found an Arm & Hammer bird card in a book at an antique store. I didn't think the card was worth very much, so I didn't buy the book. I also didn't steal the card, so I just left it in the book for someone else to find.

I once bought a couple of 1933 Goudeys and a 1933 Goudey wrapper from a dealer who said the person he bought them from had found them in a Bible. Also, an old time collector told me he knew someone who found about 10 T205's and T206's in a book.

E is being too kind.

I have never found a baseball card in a book I've bought, but I have no doubt left some cards in books in my house [damn--where is that Heilmann Boston Store card?]

However, I did buy a baseball book once that had an inscription:

"Dear Johnny, I hope you enjoy the book, as I know there's something in here you'll like. Love, Gramps"

The book was $10 or so. When I took it to the counter to pay for it, I opened it up, and a $5 bill was plunked square in the middle--evidently left by Gramps for Johnny to enjoy, and the little bugger never even opened up the book before he tossed it off to the used bookstore.

I pointed the bill out to the bookseller. He laughed and said the $5 was mine, as he should have looked in the book too.

I bought an old used book that had an unused opening day ticket for Cincinnati for the 1958 season. I still have the book and the ticket.
