Evidently the photo isn't showing up for you guys, but it is for me so I'll try to upload it from my photobucket account. |

Not really. All those guys with handlebar mustaches look the same. And except for the two guys wearing the striped jackets, no two are wearing the same uniform. I'm going to guess a town team. But a pretty image and a nice orange mount. |

Did town teams also go by the rule that each player must be wearing a different jersey in 1882? I would have figured that too expensive for most town or amateur teams. |

I don't know Martin. It's the first image I've ever seen with a shirt like that as well. Could be an undershirt, but why the fancy design? |

They weren't required to wear different uniforms, but you would think if they went to the trouble of taking a team picture, everybody could show up dressed the same. I guess that is part of the character of these early photographs. |

Barry, professional teams were required in 1882 to wear a different uniform for each position. The only way to differentiate between the two teams was the color of the socks. It was too confusing and was quickly dropped partway into the 1882 season. Now I don't think this is a major league team because of the pinstriped pants, but I'm wondering if this is a semi-pro or minor association team. I just don't think that many town teams would have followed that rule. With no writing on the back I was hoping someone might recognize a face that is unmistakeable that would help me identify this team. |

Dan- you just taught me something new, thank you. I now vaguely remember some teams used a different uniform for each position, but I didn't know it was a requirement and that it was only implemented in 1882. Great tidbit |

Hey Barry, I "knew" of the rule, but couldn't place the year without the help of Joe G, Corey and Hal earlier this week. |
