I have a few Detroit players like this, called Scrapps. Most found have glue resedue on th back. It would be tough to cut around it I would think. I would soak if it is possible. |

I had an 1890s scrapbook of scraps and die cuts. The paper was so soft you could remove the die cuts from the pages by tearing away the paper. Though that didn't remove glue from the backs. |

If that is a tear across the neck, if you soak it you will have two separate pieces. I would keep it on the paper, as that would present much better than two pieces. Maybe cut a rectangular piece of the page around the Scrapps, as opposed to cutting around the Scrapps itself, which might look wierd or cause even more damage. |

Yes, I am with PC on this one too. By cutting a rectangular section of the page out, in my estimation, you have taken something which was not a card, and made a card out of it. |

If it is just a heavy crease and not 2 pieces already....Id soak it, if it is torn in 2 I might not. The Scraps are actually easy (IMO) to soak from album pages. I have done about a dozen in last 5 years. This one might be tricky because the damaged area might get worse. PS I sometimes dont complete soak the card and paper back in water, I will cut it out first then with the Scraps side down dab the back until the paper is complete wet then start taking the flaky scrapbook paper layers off with tweezers. Sometime the whole piece comes off in one easy chunk. I just removed scrapbook paper from N28 Comiskey in 1 minute, and it came out perfect. Some of the 1880's pastes/glue they used was water soluble. |

Well I soaked it off, and just as I suspected it was in two pieces.....So I pressed it dry and glued the pieces together. you can still tell that it was two pieces, but it did glue back exactly the way it looked in the scrapbook and now it's in a screwdown holder and looks great. My scanner doesn't scan cards in screwdowns worth a crap so you'll just have to trust me that it looks great. |
