I have been in conversations with the seller of the recent N167's on ebay. Come to find out they were his Dad's, who was a big time postcard collector/auctioneer, many years ago. These cards were thrown into the storage room as they weren't postcards. The more interesting part of the story is that there is a gentleman by the name of Walter Corson, who was a good friend of the Dad (owner of these cards), and Walter sold his collection to Frank Nagy in the early 60's. There are some large checklists that we might be able to get made public that could be very interesting. I am hoping the Dad will continue with the information flow. I love stuff like this....regards all (pulling for a 30) |

If my memory isn't failing me, Walter Corson was a huge collector from the Burdick days, so this could be very interesting. |

May very well get a 30 if it is graded by the same guy who did this one for me, since the cards are almost identical with one corner crease that goes through the paper: |

That was a good story and although cards like this had very little value in the era his dad was involved there still was some knowledge of which card sets were rare; and apparently his dad didn't seem to know this. |

I'll bet on a 20, the sides are too uneven and the creases are more dramatic. Good luck though! |

the scan of the E107 is smaller too so the creases aren't as visible.... |

I'd petition SGC and ask them for a new half grade (SGC25). Could be the start of something new... |

From the SGC description is appears a 30 is absolutely possible. It depends on the person grading it (good day, bad day - one martini, two martinis - the alignment of the sun and moon). |

That is a nice looking card and deserves a 30. But the grade on a card like that really does not matter. |

Has anyone ever seen an SGC 30 card with pin holes? I never read the description that carefully until I saw Leon's post above. |

I agree with Colt- a card with a pinhole will never get a 30. I think Leon's is more like a 27.2, so when you round it off to the nearest number it becomes a 30. That is my prediction. |

I would have bid on the card regardless of it being a 20 or 30. The visual appeal is really what I think about when I bid...that, and the fact the seller is honest and gave a guarantee of authenticity made me feel comfortable. I should have the card tomorrow and will overnight it to SGC, my fave grading company, and should have an answer by Friday.....or maybe even Thursday as it's at the tier of an immediate (2 hour) grading....best regards |

what does sgc charge for the high tier? i think psa would charge $150 for grading that card (or any card valued over $10k). |

Unless the rates have changed, SGC charges $100 plus postage for a walk-thru. And in nearly all cases it is worth every penny. |

Unless it has changed since I sent some cards to PSA last week, the submission form says $100 for premium service (cards valued at over 10k). |

I think it was 3 days ago that PSA substantially raised their fees. I know it angered at least one, very well respected ebay dealer, quite a bit, as he called me to politely vent a little. At least it was subtantial to the dealer as it was about $3-$5 more for most cards he submits...times hundreds....please don't start a PSA bashing thread in this one....thanks |

If it was sent UPS, give me the tracking number and I'll be sure it makes it to you okay. I mean, I wouldn't try to intercept it or anything and divert it to me.....the Keefe is coming to Kentucky.....I know the guy that bought it.... |

Congratulations Leon. I'm really thrilled for you. Are they going to put "The Leon Luckey Collection" on the holder? lol. At what point do they do that? If it is related to size/breadth/depth of the collection you should be there, right? |

I don't really know what constitutes getting your name put on a holder. I guess I could ask but don't think it would add anything to the card(s). Mr.Nagy, or Mr.Burdick, or a few others might....but little 'ole moderator dude probably has little value |

Which were better condition than the 30 received on the Ewing. A reason why I won't send cards to SGC where they'd get a "2" from PSA. Seems like if you pay for a higher tier service, the grading improves as well. |

Post your cards and we'll see if we can figure out why they got 2's ? Usually there is a reason....and I don't think higher tiers buy better grades....just my opinion though |
