this is some worthwhile reading, however i doubt the thread will last long, they seem to be busy conjuring up fantasy teams of all sorts, mostly non-vintage? using opinionated rationale and other assorted crapola instead of learning about vintage cards and the history of such.

thanks for an interesting post, i doubt most even know what the Wrapper is.

seems the board has lost it's focus again.

MARK - The Wrapper is a non sports publication w/ a few articles and a bunch of ads thats been around almost 30 years. It has an old time feel for it, its not a slick glossy magazine. The publisher Les is a good guy as well...jay

I have never heard of The Wrapper, and probably wouldn't have any interest in a subscription to a non-sports magazine. However, I'd like to buy the issue that Greg mentioned. How can I find it?

Tom: No, this article is by Chris Benjamin and is reprinted from a 1986 edition of the Card Collectors Bulletin. The Wrapper, by the way, is probably the last hold out from those by-gone days of The Trader Speaks, etc. It's paper, stapled and is generally devoted to both vintage and newer nonsports cards. It was started in the late 70's by Les Davis as an adzine devoted to card wrappers, mainly baseball. Over the years it evolved into a mainly nonsports card content. It's only about $20 a year, so for anyone with an interest in cards outside of the baseball realm it's worth a look at a sample copy.
