Austin is one of the most attractive areas I have ever visited, lucky you. I too will bite the bullet and sign up soon, but I have lots of hesitancy. |

Gilbert, thanks for the reply. I joined mostly from the recommendation of old friend, & the usually positive posts I see on this board. I'm not to concerned about what the experience may be good or bad, just gonna roll with it. Also, I would like to say I thought I knew alot about vintage cards, atleast until I started reading this board. Y'all are awesome. |

A good thing to do is locate you nearest regional chapter and try to make it to meetings. They always a good time and there is usually some interesting baseball related activity involved too. |

Jay, I plan on going to the regional meetings. Living near Austin, & not to far from San Antonio & Houston, there should be a few meetings from time to time. Yes, I'll probably be humbled some too, just like when I started reading this board. Thanks. |

Jay if i joined sabr could they tell me why the Pirates in 1909 aquired Kid Durbin from the Reds in exchange for Ward Miller and cash, and then used him in just one game as pinch runner a month later.Seems like a very odd trade,to give them a player and cash for a guy who was 1-5 on the season in 6 games and batted .250 in 14 games the previous season, and then they only use him once a month later. |

John I have no idea, but I am sure there are other fantaical Pirates fans like you that have probably looked into the question. I'll put it up on the SABR-l list and see if it gets a response. |

Is SABR a good source for minor league stats? Is there a better one? |

SABR has a committee doveote soley to minor leagues. There pretty much isn't any part of the game that isn't covered by a committee. I guess there isn't a player's wives committee yet, lol. |
