Anyone know anything about this upcoming four day show? It's in White Plains, NY...and I'm wondering if it's worth a visit.

I used to go to it all the time as a kid. It was great back then, but I haven't attended in 5 years so I will reserve judgment for those who have gone more recently. I remember Gloria used to fill the upstairs and basement parts of the convention center back then.

The East Coast National used to be a great show, but my most recent experiences there have been less satisfying. My sister grew up as a best friend of promoter Gloria Rothstein's daughter, Andrea. Gloria did/does a great job organizing the show, but, in my opinion, because she scheduled it so close to the real National and the effects of ebay, the attendance began to fall off.

In days gone by, Terry Knouse and a few other top vintage dealers frequented the show (I bought my first Old Judge - Tim Keefe from Terry at one of these shows), but not so any more.

You can still find some good stuff - Ron Vitro, Glenn Mechanick and Henry Moses still attend and have some 19th century items as far as I know - but it's not as plentiful as it used to be.

If you decide to go, let me know if you're going Saturday or Sunday and maybe we can hook up.

Show is worth going to. 16.00 at the door, 4.00 parking. Generally good vintage items, plenty of dealers...

That's more than the National?? That's even more than a movie at the Universal studios complex here in LA...

Boy am I glad our equivalent shows are around $8 with free parking.

Yes it is! These higher prices for the summer show increased several years ago. And that is why I havent gone for three years! This year I will get a 2.00 off beckett coupon and park at the Diner across the street! Also cant forget the Bridge tolls..

There must be two East Coast Nationals. . I have attended this show for the last 10 years and it gets worse every year. Gloria Rothstein is a rip off with what she charges and what is worse, you pay more and get less every year. There are about 3-4 vintage dealers at the show-Ron Vitro ( a great guy) and a few others whose names I don't remember. Glen Mechanik is not a vintage dealer. He has virtually no baseball, mostly non-sports. Last year there was a guy selling knockoff DVDs at one table and another guy selling candy bars at another table. There is a reason Terry Knouse stopped going to the show--IT SUCKS. Why do I go back every year--I guess the same reason people buy lottery tickets--hope exceeding reason.

Went last year (twice).. the first time we had that big black-out on the East Coast! Of course it happened just as I went over the Tappan Zee Bridge. So, of course we get there and the show's cancelled that day. I swear I should have heeded the warning... went back the next day, very disappointed. Not as many dealers as in years past, and even less collectors. Not worth the price of admission, even discounted. I won't be going back this year.
