i saw this card up for auction

nice card. but a rare card? only 19 examples in psa 7? i was actually laughing out loud. i cant think of a more abundant card, especially in high condition...except for cobb red. also the description says "no folds or tears!"

This is a bit much. I really like the "awesome" Piedmont back. I guess that must be really rare.

And the top to bottom centering, 70/30 must also be rare, at least in grade 7 cards.

It is a pretty card, all said.

This seller thinks every card he has is rare. He used to sell raw exclusively and the writeups were enough to make you puke. He's also know to alter the pictures on his posts to hide blemishes. It was posted here about year ago. Feedback looks good but stay away!

Everyone needs to understand: because PSA, SGC, GAI are huge and because their slabbed cards bring high bucks on ebay (as evidence on this board has shown), then they all MUST be beyond approach - money talks, doesn't it? and it never lies. Just remember - buy the slab, not the card - in fact, you don't even need to waste your time looking at the card since the label always describes the card accurately.

This is really great - now that I think about it, the grading companies have made it possible for ANYONE to collect vintage cards, no knowledge whatsoever required!

Not to belabor the grammar, but the sentence does not state that Piedmont is a rare back, it states that this card has a Piedmont back that is really nice.

While I do agree that the seller is misrepresenting the rarity of the card, it is not because the number of examples referenced represents a really high number of examples of a card, it is because the PSA Pop #'s do not tell the whole story, which this listing misleadingly implies. Think about it--the Wagner has about 50 known examples, so if there were less than 20 Lajoie cards total out there, it would be a true rarity. Of course, what the seller omits is that there are hundreds of examples of this card in various grades readily available.

I do feel that true high grade cards from this era are condition rarities--of course, I don't trust PSA's skills at grading a card to the point that I would actually buy a high grade card without handling it myself first under a very good light and magnifier.

I should have mentioned this also, but better late than never: the PSA population report is ALL that matters, i.e: cards can actually become rarer as examples 'exit' the report, or can become more common as more are graded! Isn't it incredible that all this can occur 95 years after the cards were printed!
