I've been crunching some numbers and I thought I'd share them with the board. We all know about how scarce 19th century issues are, but these numbers still amaze me. Here's the total number of cards in each set that have been graded (PSA or SGC) and sold individually at auction over the past year: |

That is quite a low number. I have just started collecting tobacco issues within the last 6 months or so and I have been only been able to find a grand total of 4 19th century cards graded in my price range that I have bought. It seems like there are only a few extremes. They are either perfect and cost as much as a new car. They are maybe trimmed but still are affordable for someone like me. They are in collector grade unaltered up to VG-EX condition. |
