Joe Musgrove just pitched the first no hitter in Padres team history. I sure hope they printed some paper tickets in Texas!

Wow, only 53 seasons!
Is this a record for longest time for a team to record one? |

According to nonohitters.com, Padre starters went into the 8th inning or later with a no-hitter intact, 20 times, before finally giving up a hit. Two other times, a starter was pulled without giving up a hit, only for a reliever to blow it.
Clay Kirby - 7 1/3 innings Clay Kirby - 7 innings Steve Arlin - 8 2/3 innings Randy Jones - 7 1/3 innings Dave Friesleben - 7 innings Tom Griffin - 7 innings Brent Strom - 7 innings Bob Owchinko - 7 1/3 innings (perfect game) Greg Harris - 7 innings Andy Benes - 7 innings Andy Ashby - 8 innings Sterling Hitchcock - 7 innings Adam Eaton - 7 innings Chris Young - 7 innings Chris Young - 8 1/3 innings Chris Young - 7 2/3 innings Odrisamer Despaigne - 7 2/3 innings Tyson Ross - 7 2/3 innings Jordan Lyles - 7 1/3 innings Chris Paddack - 7 innings Clay Kirby - 8 innings; pulled; Jack Baldschun gave up a hit Andy Benes - 7 innings; pulled; Mike Maddux gave up a hit So Joe Musgrove's is the 21st time a Padres starting pitcher has gone into the 8th or 9th innings with a no-hitter. I've been a Padres fan their entire major league history; I remember going to games in 1970, when I was 7 years old. I've been waiting for this day practically my entire life! Damn, IT FEELS GOOD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BLACKJACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Steve

I don't know about that, but they were the only team in MLB without a no-hitter. Steve

I just saw where Johan Santana pitched the first (and so far only) no hitter in Mets history in 2012, their 51st season. Also, at nonohitters.com, they show that although it didn't involve their first no hitter, the Philadelphia Phillies were void of a no-hitter for 58 years, 1 month, 18 days between 1906 and 1964. Their 8,945-game-long streak began on May 3, 1906, one game after Phillies’ southpaw Johnny Lush threw a 6-0 no-hitter against the Brooklyn Superbas. It ended on June 21, 1964, when Jim Bunning threw a 6-0 perfect game against the Mets during a Father’s Day doubleheader at Shea Stadium. Steve

It shouldn't be a shock, but I'm looking for one of these tickets for my no-hit ticket collection.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. At least I know one exists! |

In spite of not having followed the game since before the '94 strike, I suddenly feel very dense for not knowing that about the Mets! With all their pitching talent over the years there wasn't a single no-hitter until 2012?! How absolutely astonishing!
