In a recent thread someone expressed 'collector envy' over a card - I know we don't have that problem over here in the 'everyone is equal' memorabilia side, but let's see some inexpensive pick-ups anyway.
Here's an action cabinet of 'Indian Orchard' vs 'Monson' on opening day of the Central League (May 30, 1910). This was a small league in Springfield, Mass.

Probably not worth much because of condition, but an original signed 8x10(ish) photo of Cy Perkins from 1922. Signature is light on the bottom left, photo mounted to cardboard.

Looks great and value is irrelevant.
I personally prefer looking at the lower-value items - I get the catalogs from all the major auction houses, so unless you've found a hidden gem it's not news.

Last weekend I actually picked up several cool items that fit this criteria. However my favorite is scanned below. It is a circa 1840 chapbook and there are a few kids playing a form of baseball in the woodcut on the cover. This is my second time finding one of these in the last few months for 10.00. The condition is not great but the baseball image is mostly unmarred (the purple is actually not as pronounced as the scan appears). Nice Perkins photo and nice Springfield photo!

I going to post the PSA 4 1951 Bowman Mantle I got on Beckett marketplace for $88.00 just as soon as I get the card. The seller should not be allowed to cancel the deal so when I get it ill post it.

Managed to pick-up this Tacoma track photo (ca. 1905-08) for well under $100. Never thought I'd acquire an Ernie Tanner (1889-1956) image, as they are very few, and this is a previously unknown photo. Professed to be "the greatest athlete ever produced in the state of Washington" in his 1956 obituary, he was a phenomenal four sport/four year athlete in high school, who led tiny Whitworth College to an upset victory over the University of Oregon on the gridiron in 1908 (16-10). He was also an influential African American labor leader on the Tacoma waterfront for decades.

Thanks for starting this thread! These are always more interesting to me...most of my finds are small, and I usually don't even bother sharing them.

John, most of us get the catalogs from all the major auction houses, but this is our first look at your photo, so thanks for sharing.

I sold one of those 'Pitching Course's last year - great little booklet that I think is undervalued.

New to memorabilia so starting out slow and cheap.
![]() Any tips on fakes if(LOL) out there would be much appreciated. Would hate to buy a bunch of junk even if cheap. |

Not exactly baseball, but would look cool in a display with a catcher's mitt maybe? Plus, it was a gift...

I think old newspapers are fascinating, and as a collectible, they're incredibly cheap! This is a 1907 Philadelphia Ledger newspaper that devoted almost an entire page to the "Champions of the American League". There's a story about the team, neat little blurbs on each player, stats. And I love the layout of the photos.
Price: $24 ![]() |

This one will be for sale soon. K.G. Luke were medal and trophy makers active in Melbourne, Victoria until about 1974. They started earlier, Not sure if its Pewter, etc. Grayish/Silver Colored. Really neat tho IMHO
![]() A bit bigger than a Silver dollar, seems.
