Default Seller's reaction on ebay- that E94 Cobb

Posted By: Bob

I recently emailed the seller of the E94 Cobb and asked him about the card. I mentioned to him that the card appeared to be orangish rather than the gold color normally seen and was the color a result of a scanner or was that the actual color. (I have seen some reprints of E94s which look orangish, much like the orange color backgrounds of the E98 set, although I didn't mention it to him). I also asked him if I won the card, would he guarantee authenticity? I planned on shipping it to SGC to grade and I told him any grade, even an "authentic" grade would be acceptable.
Well, I received a terse note which said he didn't see the word "reprint" anywhere on it so it was fine. He said a couple of local dealers in his area said they thought it looked ok too. If I bought it, to paraphrase his reply, I was stuck with it, even if SGC said it was a reproduction.
Gee, that really inspires confidence, doesn't it?
If it had been a $25 card, maybe my inquiry could be construed to have been too probing, but I figure this is a 4 figure card...
