W575-2 Stan Coveleski
When did this card become so valuable? A thousand dollars for a VG example? https://www.ebay.com/itm/326856725987. Have people suddenly discovered this set? Or Coveleski?

His W575-2 card does seem to be seen less frequently compared to others in the set, and it is one of his earlier cards. Still it seems to be a fairly excessive ending price.

I haven't checked the pop reports but it really shouldn't be a scarce card, as it is my understanding that the W575-2 cards were sold as a complete set with no short-prints or player substitutions. It's not a rookie card either by any reasonable definition. Probably just a couple of gotta have it now guys bidding.
Side note: I have also seen what I considered unusually high bids on 1916 m101 cards of Stan's brother Harry over the years. Maybe a family thing?

I worked on completing the set for a while, and Coveleski was a tough card to find; tougher than the other HOFers from what I can remember.
George Kelly, on the other hand, was everywhere it seems. If someone had a group of 575s for sale, you could bet that one of them was a Kelly.
