thanks for starting this thread each year TUM301, and Happy Veterans Day to all our Net54 Veterans!
Ted Zanidakis from 11/11/22 I was a RADAR Specialist stationed for 2 years at a Strategic Air Command (SAC) base in Maine which was loaded with F102 Fighter planes and B52 bombers. Those gigantic flying machines (B52's) have been patrolling the skies since 1952. In the Fall of 1962, these "Big Birds" were reassigned to Florida as a result of the Cuban Missile Crisis. It was awesome to see all of them take-off from our 11,000-ft runway. An even more beautiful sight when all our B52's returned 2 weeks later. One of my biggest thrills was sitting in the cockpit of a B52. The cockpit's instrument panel, (meters, switches, fuel gauges, Radar indicators, etc.) are absolutely mind-boggling. The last year of my four year career was at the Air Force Technical Training Center (near Champaign, Illinois) teaching Analog & Digital electronics and RADAR systems.

Yesterday (Nov. 10, 2025) was the 250th birthday of the the United States Marine Corps. So grateful to all of our veterans today. These two served during WWI.

Thank you to all of our Veterans who sacrificed for the freedoms we enjoy today. Eddie Grant, who died while serving as a Captain in the U.S. Army's 77th Division during World War I. He was killed in action on October 5, 1918, while leading a rescue mission to find the "Lost Battalion" in the Argonne Forest. He was the first MLB player to be killed in combat and is honored with a replica plaque at the San Francisco Giants' stadium. - |

Some members of our local SAR chapter marched in the Veteran’s Day parade and laid a wreath at the ceremony at the Courthouse here in Victoria, Texas. Our thoughts and thanks are with all veterans today.

Thank you for your service, Veterans and current Service members. We owe you a great deal of gratitude.
Here is one in honor of Lionel Carter. I will keep it safe and treasure it until it passes on to its next keeper. |
