Default T206 Double Name

Does a T206 double name add to the card’s value and if so how much? IMG_3882.jpg

Holistically speaking, not really but they are neat. Doesn't mean if one pops up and two collectors want it, that will create a bidding frenzy. They are definitely unique though.

You're getting a couple extra % of cardboard and ink, so only makes sense you might pay a couple extra % for it

I actually thought this was a bargain as the Seller felt that the 2 names detracted from the card's appearance. He discounted it as he felt it was miscut!

T206 cards that have two different names seem to attract more interest, and thus usually sell for more, but just couldn't quote you how much more. Here is a link to a great, multi-decade post about T206 cards with two different names.

Here is the one I have displaying Konetchy catching some shaving cream under the watchful moniker of manager Hugh Jennings.

Default Dual name

That Chesbro/McGraw is pretty awesome - how many of the dual name cards are both hall of famers?

In my experience the cheaper cards sell for about twice what a normal cut card would sell for. I have only had a few.

It’s interesting to me that some are the same card top and bottom while others are different.

Maybe Patrick can share some of his awesome research on how the sheets were designed/laid-up. Sometimes cards were repeated vertically, sometimes they weren't.

The examples with 2 different names seem very difficult to find. This P150 Bill Bradley with Chief Bender at the top is the only example I've seen.

These threads are great. Here are two pairs of variations.

It's complicated because on some of the printings the same subject was printed vertically on the whole sheet and on some sheets
it was the same subject vertically on one half and another subject vertically for the other half.

I know the PD150's were printed both ways, I'm pretty sure the 350's were all split sheets and the 350/460 and 460 only were all the same subjects vertically.

Another complication is that some of the sheet layouts were changed during the printing. There are examples of the same subject
with two different names at the top Rossman/McBride and Rossman/Thomas is one example of that.

This is an example of what the front of one of the plate scratch sheets looks like
[IMG][/IMG]

Because the two different name cards could only come from one spot on the split sheets the same name on top are in the neighborhood of 10x - 15x more common.
