Kind of a weird question, but think these are so neat that I'd like to preserve them.
Does anyone know if any of the graders will slab these "As-Is?" The gum is really cemented on and going no where - there were a few others in the lot where they ripped it off and it took the top layer of paper so confident in this assessment I'm 100% OK if its an authentic-only situation (without the Gum they're not in the greatest condition, but still neat) and I have reached out to TPAs but it was last week and getting antsy! ![]() Last edited by Smanzari; 04-07-2025 at 07:36 AM. |

Thank you! I figured there was a 50/50 chance!

I have a few like that. Put them in 9 pocket sheets with the involved set. Over time some separated and some not.

I like the idea of preserving them in a display of some sort, but you can probably come up with something yourself that would preserve them better then a brittle plastic, non-archival slab.
I made up this boxing collage years ago when we moved into our new house. Not for preservation LOL, as it's mostly worthless stuff I cannibalized just to use up a frame and matte I had laying around unused. It's hanging in my home office, and while it can be argued it's an eyesore ![]()

You mentioned you have a few other 83 topps with gum attached. Did you try putting one in a plastic bag and then in the freezer? I have had luck with this in the past. Got the idea trying to un-brick a 97 topps set.

These were actually the only ones with the Gum, the others just had evidence it was ripped off. Thank you for the tip, this is one of those situations where I'd like to leave it though!

If you wanted to preserve them with the gum attached maybe try a thicker one touch. A 100pt or 130pt would probably fit it nicely.
