I am trying to get some ideas on how to do a custom mat. I have an autograph that I want to mat into the photo itself. I assume it needs to be two layers: bottom : cardboard to set autograph on in right place, top: photo with precision cut for the autograph.
If anyone has done this can you tell me what you used? Thanks! |

Sean,
I did this. I cut a mat for the sigs and then I cut the holes in the poster to allow a reveal of the mat. It would probably work the same for a photo instead of poster

That looks nice. Are the matted autographed connected to the backing board?
Mine will be pretty small probably only on a 3x5 photo |

A number of years ago I purchased a collection of about 100 signed Rolodex cards. I created these photo collages in Coreldraw. I printed them on thick stock photo paper and then cut out a window. Placed the signed cards between the image and used Baxter board as backing. Here are a couple of examples of the end product.

Couple of questions: -Do you glue the photostock paper to the board? I understand using photo tape probably for the autograph itself. -What size stock photo paper do you use? I was struggling finding a good home printer that will print on thick stock -Is the Baxter board just box cardboard? I was thinking of buyinjg a NT Cutter 45 Degree Bevel Mat Board Cutter. Do you use a special cutter? Thanks for your help! |
