My first opportunity to start a monthly pickup thread. These items were picked up at the World Olympic Collectors Fair in Paris the last weekend in June. I was in Paris for a week followed by 4 days in Vienna making this the first chance to post these items.

RPPC showing the Hawaiins who competed at the 1924 Olympics. This is one of the key cards from this set. Duke Kahanamoku is standing third from the left in the white shirt.

RPPC showing the finish of the 100 m dash at the 1924 Olympics. This is one of the races depicted in "The Chariots of Fire". An early owner wrote on it in fountain pen, but it does not detract from the image that much.

Vintage postcard signed by gold medalist in weightlifting (gewichtheben), Josef Manger. He lived into the 1980's, but this was signed in pencil back in the 1930's.

1936 ticket stubs for the baseball demonstration game, Jesse Owens long jump gold medal (August 4) and two tickets from the preliminaries of the 4 x 100 m relay (August 8).

1948 Olympic press credential and Mexican Olympic Committee credential for a movie camera operator (camarografo). I collect items related to Olympic photographers. Even though he was not one of those I could not pass these up for €50 (@$55 US) which included his Mexican passport.

Full ticket for the semifinal basketball game between the U.S. and Yugoslavia at the 1960 Olympics. The U.S. won 104-42. Oscar Robertson scored 16 points, Bob Boozer 15, Jerry West 14, Jerry Lucas 10 and Walt Bellamy 8. This team is in the Basketball Hall of Fame. The Yugoslavian coach, Aleksandar Nikolic is also in the hall of fame. I picked up four of these.

Unused ticket for Oscar de la Hoya's first match at the 1992 Olympics. He defeated Adilson da Silva of Brazil. I picked up two of these.

The 1992 Olympic tickets are very condition sensitive. Even though they were printed on nice paper the ink has a tendency to flake off when they were wrinkled or folded.

Unlike here in the U.S. the Olympic dealers do not generally price tickets based on the event/winner. It is usually whatever price they decide. Of all of the items I have shown the most expensive was the 1948 Mexican camera operator lot at €50

Pete Runnels was my favorite Washington Senators player when I was a youngster, and I collect his cards and memorabilia items. I just acquired this 1958 Hires Root Beer contract signed by Runnels (Runnels' 1958 Hires card is shown for context), thanks to Rocky R./NiceDocter.

Wonderful bat from Cuyler's days as a regular. It's from a 34-35 order, but it's not powerized, and the writing below the label is associated with earlier models.
It's not clear to me from your photo what is Light Foil about the bat, but it's an interesting case study.

This has been on my wantlist for quite some time. Not easy to find and I got it for 40% of my max ebay bid. That never happens to me anymore. I also have a carry on bag from the same tour. My bag may well have belonged to Bobby Bonds, because it came from a guy who had Bobby's suitcase (which I also own0. Here's a picture of Bobby with a couple of his kids. One went on to be a pretty decent ballplayer.

Been awhile since I’ve posted a pickup. This one is out of the ordinary for me but Felix Hernandez is far and away my favorite pitcher in Mariners history. Next month he will honored by the Mariners by being inducted in the Mariners Hall of Fame.

Randy “the Big Unit”was a Prima Dona and took his game to Arizona. He couldn’t perform for Seattle in his contract year because of a mysterious issue with his back. When he arrived in Arizona the heat, sunshine, and new contract miraculously healed him and just magically he was dominating hitters once again. King Felix stayed in Seattle out of love for the city, team, and fans. He gave the club a home town discount. Unfortunately the organization didn’t invest in the team as much as he invested his career in it. He was loyal and I fear he paid for it dearly. If he had followed Randy’s example packed his bags, chased the trophy paycheck,and won a ring he might have been attending an induction ceremony in Cooperstown rather than T-Mobile next month. Long live the King. I miss him. Anyway this photo appeared in ESPN the magazine. I lucked into an original print and was lucky enough to have it signed in this manner.

My good fried and pitching historian Scott Garner informed me that Randy to his talents to Houston prior to Arizona. I suppose my apathy for the Big Unit derailed my memory LOL!

Go Mariners! Loved King Felix. I think he's HOF worthy. He should have 75 more wins. He has a 2.91 ERA in 114 no-decisions cuz the Mariners sucked his entire career. And people still try to tell me wins don't matter anymore in this day and age. Tell that to Felix cuz people use his resume against him.

Can't imagine 2 photos that could be more different, in terms of the subject matter and appearance. But both are so cool in their own ways...

Agree with everything you said about King Felix. He was Seattle's "Baseball God". The Mariners had almost no offense throughout most of Felix' career, but he always kept them in the game. His allegiance to Seattle is perhaps only matched by Edgar. I hope someday they name a local street after him, too!

That image takes the cake for best-ever 19th Century Uniforms. I thought the 1916 NY Giants plaid flannels were super cool until I saw this photo. Great pickup!

Another online sale find - Found a negative of former Yankee Tommy Henrich when he was a coach for the NY Giants in 1957.
