Ray Guy was a great punter, but he will never pass Ed Ott in the standings for shortest sports name of all time.
Has anyone beaten Ed Ott? Let's keep it to American sports, and not some obscure soccer player from Korea in 1942. |

I worked with a guy who had shortened the common last name Yu to U. And he was Ed.

Just curious does Ed Orr win if that is not his legal name but what he goes by?
When I looked him up Nathan Edward Ott came up in Wikipedia but he went by Ed Otto. So even If Ed was just short for his middle name of Edward?

And Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was Lew Alcindor. Nene had his name legally changed in 2003.
